On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, President William Ruto donated Ksh1 million to students at Mandera Teachers Training College for lunch.

During his speech at the institution, the president allocated funds to the school president for providing lunch for all students.

“Who is the school president?” Ruto asked, as one of the students hurried to the podium.

“Hawa wadosi kwa sababu nimefika area, nitawapa shilingi millioni moja uwanunulie lunch,” Ruto added as the audience applauded.

The president promised the students that a new classroom would be built for them by the end of the year.

“I will instruct the Ministry of Housing to construct the first block that will accommodate at least 500 students here, and I want it finished by the end of this year so that students coming to school next year have a good place to stay,” the president added.

He underscored his goal of bolstering the infrastructure of educational facilities and increasing the number of educators in the North Eastern region to better facilitate access to education.

“We are improving infrastructure in educational institutions and hiring more teachers in the North Eastern region, just as we are doing nationwide to enhance access to education.

“This will provide learners with equal opportunities, promote equity, and guarantee that no one is left behind,” the president added.
