Former employees of Kenya Pipeline and a truck driver found guilty of oil theft in Kisumu

On Monday, two ex-employees of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) and a truck driver were found guilty of stealing petroleum products from KPC’s Kisumu terminal.
Reuben Aseneka, who previously worked as a loading island operator; Joseph Maina, who drives a truck; and Mutai Micah, who previously worked in ICT, were convicted on all six charges against them.
The trio faced charges for plotting to pilfer 13,852 litres of motor spirit premium (MSP) valued at Ksh.2.4 million.

The oil, which belonged to different oil marketers, was being held by KPC and had been loaded onto a road tanker at the time of its theft.
They were all found guilty of conspiracy to commit a felony and theft of petroleum products.
Aseneka and Mutai were additionally convicted for illegally altering the KPC fuel monitoring systems, as well as for unauthorized access to KPC’s computer systems.
Mbugua was also convicted for unlawfully possessing petroleum products.
The Chief Magistrate of Kisumu Law Courts, D.O. Onyango, ordered the remand of the three individuals in custody until their sentencing on February 18.
