3 Traffic Officers Arrested After Collecting 48k Bribe in Just 2hrs
Three police officers accused of extorting motorists and civilians in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) have been arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Corporal Oscar Serem Biwott, Constable Simon Kiplagat Nyunyutik, and Constable Edwin Benedict Mubweka were apprehended on Wednesday morning at Globe Cinema roundabout after having gathered bribes totaling Ksh.48,250 within two hours.
The officers, who were stationed at the Central Police Station, were then escorted to the EACC headquarters at Integrity Centre to provide statements.
According to EACC, the three suspects are currently held at Kilimani Police Station while awaiting arraignment.
