Poll Tracks List for Best Serving PSs

Principal Secretary of the State Department of Immigration Julius Bitok has emerged as the best-performing PS in a poll done by research firm, Politrack Africa.

The purpose of this year’s January 4–10 opinion poll was to find out how Kenyans felt about the broad-based government and whether they thought it will be further expanded by changing the Principal Secretaries.

Bitok and Energy PS Alex Wachira were tied after both scored a 76.5 percent approval rating, according to the survey report that was made public on Friday, February 21.

As one of the best-performing principal secretaries in President William Ruto’s government, Health PS Mary Muthoni was ranked second in the poll.

The research demonstrated remarkable performance across key government departments, with Mining PS Elijah Mwangi emerging in third position among the highest performers.

Principal Secretaries Joseph Mungai (Roads), Aurelia Rono (Parliamentary Affairs), and Ephantus Kimotho (Irrigation) rated fourth, fifth, and sixth, with approval ratings of 73.4 per cent, 72.2 per cent, and 70.1 per cent, respectively.

According to the study, Abubakar Hassan (investments), Raymond Omollo (interior), Teresia Mbaika (Devolution), and Geoffrey Kaituko (Shipping and Maritime Affairs) came in seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth place, respectively.

The survey was created as an essential instrument for public service management strategic decision-making. The strong approval ratings in all important sectors point to successful public service delivery and policy execution.

The research also suggested keeping executives in high-performing industries while implementing effective management techniques in other divisions.

Documenting effective tactics, putting performance improvement programs into place, and improving interdepartmental cooperation are some of the main suggestions made by the poll.

The survey, which included 1,068 participants, was limited to Kenyans who were at least 18 years old and was carried out in every county in the country, according to the study.

According to the polls, the majority of Kenyans were likewise positive about the broad-based government’s ability to deliver for their country’s citizens, with 22% of respondents expressing approval and 21% expressing pessimism.
