Peter Salasya Goes Defend Mode on Archbishop Muheria Criticsm

East Mumias MP Peter Salasya has publicly defended the Catholic Church after Archbishop Anthony Muheria made comments that criticized the government’s governing style.
Speaking in Bungoma on February 22, 2025, Salasya claimed that Parliament had failed in its responsibility to speak for common people and commended the church for acting as the voice of the people.
Salasya’s comments follow Archbishop Muheria’s scathing critique of the administration, in which he charged that it placed an excessive amount of emphasis on publicity at the expense of providing real services.
The archbishop of Nyeri also urged the administration to put action above words, especially in areas that are vital to the economy, like as economic stability, healthcare, education, and poverty reduction.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula implied that Archbishop Muheria had misunderstood the Constitution during a funeral in Kilifi on February 21, 2025.
He argued that in order to ensure accountability and openness in the use of public money, the government must present its projects to the public.
Musalia Mudavadi, the prime minister, also defended the government’s communication approach by drawing comparisons to the methods used in wealthy countries.
He cautioned that Kenyans would subsequently say they were excluded from important choices that affected their lives if they didn’t receive such information.
