For its Americans living in Kenya, the US Embassy has released a new travel alert warning.

Citing security threats like crime, civil upheaval, terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, the Embassy advised Americans against visiting several parts of the nation.

The Embassy advised residents of Nairobi County to remain vigilant, particularly in the crime and kidnapping areas of Eastleigh and Kibera.

Violent crimes including armed carjacking, mugging, home invasion, and kidnapping can happen at any time, according to the Embassy, which also asserted that local police frequently lack the capacity to adequately respond to terrorist attacks and other significant crimes.

Violent crimes including armed carjacking, mugging, home invasion, and kidnapping can happen at any time, according to the Embassy, which also asserted that local police frequently lack the capacity to adequately respond to terrorist attacks and other significant crimes.

“Fire and emergency medical services are scarce. The warning states, “Avoid traveling in Kenya after dark due to poor traffic safety and crime.”

The Embassy claims that motorbike crimes are frequent, with criminals stealing goods from victims and then swiftly leaving the area.

“Crimes usually happen when people are distracted or in crowded places. The ability of police to respond to these offenses is restricted. The most frequently stolen goods, according to the report, are handbags, cell phones, and other easily accessible valuables.

Due to the dangers of terrorism and kidnapping, the Embassy also advised against traveling to the Kenya-Somalia border counties of Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Tana River County, and the coastal regions north of Malindi.

At the same time, travelers were warned that there was a risk of banditry in Turkana County and West Pokot County.

The Embassy advised its government employees not to visit to certain Level 4 areas since they are forbidden from doing so because of the dangers of terrorism and kidnapping.

Threats of terrorism have been brought to light as a problem, particularly in public areas like shopping centers, lodging facilities, and houses of worship, which have previously been targeted.

According to the advice, the area became unsafe due to cross-border intrusions in portions of Turkana and Marsabit Counties that were within 50 kilometers of the Ethiopian border.

Additionally, the American public was cautioned against marches, strikes, and other forms of political and economic unrest that have the potential to turn violent.

Additionally, they were cautioned to remain vigilant, particularly in tourist-heavy regions.
