A development conference hosted by local MP Ndindi Nyoro on Wednesday, where he inaugurated a new office for the Assistant County Commissioner, was boycotted by administrative authorities from Kiharu, Murang’a County.

Administrative representatives, such as chiefs and police officers, would come out to greet Nyoro during his development visits, unlike in the past.

This time, however, things were different since, despite the fact that the administrative authorities would benefit from the new building the Kiharu MP was presenting, only locals were there to greet him.

The development occurred the day after Nyoro addressed his dismissal as the chairman of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee in a press briefing, saying that the Kenya Kwanza coalition had not discussed his position with him and that he did not know what had led to his removal.

Residents of Kiharu were deeply concerned about the situation and were disappointed that the officials had chosen not to attend the handing-over ceremony.

“We adore you more the more they boycott you. “You are our MP, not theirs,” a local named Ahmad Ali remarked.

The villagers also expressed their faith in Nyoro, saying that no effort to stop him will impede his efforts to serve them and that his development record speaks for itself.

Another resident remarked, “We didn’t run a campaign when we chose him; his campaign was carried out through his work, and now his work speaks for itself, and when he says ‘let’s go,’ we go.”

We are saddened that there isn’t even an administrative officer here, despite the fact that we came to open this office and offer it to them. We won’t criticize them since we understand that sometimes you just respond, “Yes, Sir,” when instructed to do something.

During his remarks, Nyoro emphasized that he would continue to serve the people of Kiharu and pledged to pursue progress and respect rather than hateful and insulting politics.
