The violent murder of a 70-year-old woman in Kiambwe village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, is being investigated by police.
After she was murdered by unidentified attackers, Hellen Muthoni Mwai’s lifeless body was found in her compound.
Moses Koskei, the Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander, stated that Muthoni’s body was discovered about 20 meters from her residence and that she suffered severe head injuries.
The sister of the dead, Beatrice Wangari, was by herself at the property.
Wangari bemoaned, “We were talking just yesterday; I can’t believe Muthoni is gone.”
Joyce Gakuhi, who came to see her aunt from Kibirigwi, said she was shocked, saying this was the first murder case their family had ever dealt with.
A postmortem is still pending at the mortuary of Kerugoya Hospital, where the body has been brought.
