This year, Ramadan began on Friday evening, February 28, and ended on Saturday evening, March 29.
During this time, Muslims around the world fasted, prayed, and reflected on their Islamic responsibilities to themselves and their communities.
President William Ruto emphasized the spiritual aspect of Ramadan in his greeting to Muslims on February 28th, as they began fasting.
He also encouraged Muslims to use the period for personal meditation and devotion.
“This is an opportunity for you to commit yourselves to strengthening your faith and dedicating yourselves to doing what is right,” he said.
He also complimented the Muslim community for its contributions to the country and asked them to continue to help the less fortunate.
In solidarity with the Muslim community, President Ruto recently approved the duty-free importation of dates for Ramadan.
