At Least 694 People Dead After Myanmar Deadly Earthquake

According to Myanmar’s military government, 694 people have been killed and 1,670 injured in the aftermath of a strong earthquake.

After the 7.7-magnitude earthquake, the head of the military administration has ordered a quick rescue operation.

At a shallow depth of six miles, it struck on Friday at approximately 12.50 p.m. local time (6.20 a.m. UK time).

The epicentre of the earthquake was roughly ten miles away from Mandalay, the second city.

Aftershocks also occurred; twelve minutes later, one had a powerful magnitude of 6.4.

With eight fatalities, eight injuries, and 79 reported missing, neighboring Thailand was also impacted.
