Reports that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has started the eagerly awaited nationwide police hiring process have been refuted.
A widely shared link that allegedly connects Kenyans to police positions was identified by the Commission.
Days after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced plans to hire 10,000 police officers this year, the link appeared on a number of social networking sites, including WhatsApp.
“National Police Service (NPS) Recruitment Job 2025” was the caption for the posts that have since been flagged.
Interested parties were instructed to register for the recruiting process by clicking on the link.
The Commission issued a warning, saying, “NPSC warns the public against a fraudulent recruitment link claiming to publicize vacancies within the National Police Service.”
“The Commission would like to clarify that no recruitment exercise is currently underway,” the statement continued.
The public was urged by NPSC to disregard the warning and to be on the lookout for any scams.
“Any official recruitment exercise will be duly announced through the Commission’s established and credible communication channels,” the Commission added.
After a three-year break, the government has announced that it will hire 10,000 police officers this year.
According to CS Murkomen, the drill should take place in the upcoming two months.
He acknowledged that most police stations have been under a lot of stress over the past three to four years due to the inability to hire or recruit additional officers.
