‘You Have To Pay First!’ – Senator Methu Mocks Ichung’wah After Heckling In Nyandarua

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has responded to the recent heckling of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah during President William Ruto’s tour of the county on Thursday, April 3.

In his official X account, the senator declared that Nyandarua inhabitants will not tolerate ‘immature’ politics.

Methu is a close associate of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and an outspoken critic of the current administration.

According to Methu, no amount of money can persuade Nyandarua residents to support leaders during the presidential tour of central Kenya.

“Kimani Ichung’wah, I’m so sorry, but Nyandarua doesn’t like immaturity. Nyandarua is the home of true defenders,” he said.

“The two thousand that we were given was only to listen, the rest of the leaders were to pay separately,” he added.

The Majority Leader was greeted harshly at Ol Kalou town, where he had accompanied President Ruto from Nyandarua.

Angry Nyandarua locals booed and whistled Ichung’wah’s speech as soon as he took the microphone.

Despite the heckling, which briefly delayed the MP’s speech, Ichung’wah attempted to quiet the audience with welcomes but was unsuccessful.

Ichung’wah, appearing overwhelmed by the throng, gave in and handed back the microphone.

Since President William Ruto’s announcement to visit the Mount Kenya region after nearly six months, Methu has been one of the leaders affiliated with Gachagua who have opposed the travel.

According to Methu, the president would make additional false promises to the citizens of the region.

Speaking at a public gathering earlier this week in Naivasha, the senator, who has often referred to Ruto as a ‘fraud,’ claimed that the projects that the president will introduce in the region are from the past.

“Someone cannot lie to you for one hour; he should say what he is saying for one hour and go, because lies can spoil our ears,” he said.

“I hear that he will go to my home in Nyandarua, and I know he is going to launch projects that were from the past.”

Ichung’wah was not the only one who faced a hostile crowd during the visit; Gitau Faith Wairimu, the county’s Woman Representative, was also heckled during her speech.
