POLITICAL CHAUVINISM! MP Wamuchomba Acusses Former MP Of Intimidation, Threats

Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has slammed “political chauvinists,” accusing her predecessor of publicly opposing her and derailing her constituency’s development programs.

In a statement released on Tuesday, April 8, Wamuchomba alleged that the former MP had promised to use his position to halt development initiatives in the constituency.

The former MP currently serves on the board of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

“He’s now threatening that no CDF work will be done in Githunguri under his watch,” Wamuchomba stated.

“Last year, he held a public meeting to incite the public against me in Nyaga and even promised to build a laboratory using NGCDF money, yet I’m the elected Member of Parliament. I protested to the NGCDF Board, and this didn’t stop.”

Aside from abusing his power to postpone projects in the area, Wamuchomba said that the former MP invaded her CDF offices on Saturday and threatened to harm them, which she said had been reported to the Githunguri OCPD.

According to Wamuchomba, her predecessor frequently boasted about being untouchable and protected by the state.

This is an assumption she said was demonstrated during President William Ruto’s recent visit to Mount Kenya.

During the tour, the president charged him with tarmacking the 3.1-kilometre Kaaria Lioki road, for which he was officially given Ksh50 million.

Wamuchomba criticized the action as unconstitutional because he had already served his term in the constituency before her.

This move was not without precedent, as he had previously been charged with delivering 30 coolers to dairy farmers during the President’s 2023 tour of the region, which Wamuchomba said had not been completed.

She also mentioned another job he was assigned but did not complete: finishing the blocked Githunguri uplands road.

Wamuchomba concluded her remarks by stating that she would not be intimidated by any of this and would continue to serve the residents of the Githunguri constituency.

“As you attack and intimidate me, we are happy Lioki people will have a tarmac in two weeks, as the duo promised,” she declared.

“Nothing will stop me from defending the truth and pressing for my constituents. I am the woman for the Job.”

This comes only a day after a staunch supporter of former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua claimed that her life was in danger shortly after answering a summons from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), stating that mercenaries had been dispatched to kill her.

“There are mercenaries hired by politicians to intimidate, kill, and abduct. I want to announce here that my life is in danger. Anything happening to me, we know who is behind it,” the MP said on Monday.
