‘Correct Us, But With Love!’ – Kindiki Urges Religious Leaders
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has asked religious leaders to correct the government with compassion, stating that their jobs complement one another.
He stated that tensions have occasionally arisen between the government and faith organizations.
Kindiki stated that it is not a good thing because the church and the state do not compete; rather, they compliment one another.
The Deputy President underlined that the government regards the church as a complementing institution that aids in the battle to improve the lives of Kenyans and change their social and cultural wellness.
“We have seen tension sometimes between government and faith groups and churches, and it is not right for a country because there is no contest between the King and the Prophet,” he said.

“Those two offices are two separate offices but complementary to one another, they are not in competition. That is why all the wise and Godly Kings, no King would go to war until he consults the Prophet.”
He added: “We serve the same people in different roles, but all of us are placed here by God to do what we must do at this time and later on hand over to Kings and Prophets who will take over from us.”
The DP noted that although the government is fighting crime and other social problems, the church is always praying against them.
According to Kindiki, there have been situations in which church leaders corrected the political class in a way that suggested they had other difficulties.

He was addressing on Tuesday at the Africa Revival Agenda Conference, which brought together more than 4,500 pastors and ministers from 47 countries.
He went on to remark that the Kenya Kwanza government listens and accepts all recommendations.
“The Bible says there is no authority except that which comes from God. To say that is not to say you must not correct us when we go astray; please correct us. What we plead for is that you correct us in love,” the DP said.
“Don’t talk to us as if over and above the correction you have other issues, your role should be to correct us and bring us back and we are a listening government, we will adjust where we are not doing very well and we will incorporate your views.”
