‘We’ve Listened To Kenyans!’ – Gachagua Hints At A Coalition With Matiang’i
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed on Tuesday, April 15, that a coalition between him, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee candidate Fred Matiang’i, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is in the works.
Gachagua announced that they had listened to the people’s desire and were about to form a coalition to dethrone President William Ruto.
The former Deputy President spoke at Reverend Joseph Nzola’s burial ceremony in Machakos.
“We have listened to Kenyans who have said we come together and form a government that would take the country forward,” Gachagua stated.
“We are doing just that with Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Fred Matiang’i with me in the kitchen cooking it up.”

“And I want to assure the people of Kenya that we have a formula to give you good leadership and to the people of Ukambani, Kalonzo Musyoka is a major player in this agreement,” he added.
At the same time, Gachagua expressed concern about any planned measures to destabilize the opposition.
He pointed out that opposition leaders will keep quiet about the chosen flagbearer till the approaching 2027 General Elections.
“They (the government) are trying to tear us apart and separate us well before the elections, but I want to tell you we are not stupid,” he stated.
“We will not disagree with each other. We will stay quiet, and we will only speak in December 2026 before the elections.”

Since leaving office, Gachagua has been a vociferous critic of the government, threatening to make Ruto a one-term president.

However, Gachagua has had his fair share of difficulties in this endeavor, with disruptions and damage to his vehicles occurring on more than one occasion throughout his different engagements.
The former DP has backed other opposition figures, including Kalonzo, Wamalwa, and People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, who had a falling out with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Meanwhile, Matiang’i, who served in the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been endorsed as the presidential flag-bearer of the Jubilee Party for the next elections.
Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has expressed his pessimism towards any alliances, noting that such agreements might lead to fallouts and are susceptible to infiltration from government quarters.
