‘Our Officers Underwent Rigorous Training!’ – Kenya Confirms Haiti Mission Well Equipped
According to the National Police Service, Kenyan police officers deployed in Haiti as part of the international security support mission are well-equipped.
NPS ignored reports that questioned the officers’ capabilities.
According to the agency, the police received extensive training in a variety of crucial areas prior to their deployment in June 2024.
This provided them with the necessary knowledge and competencies to provide operational support to the Haitian National Police in battling gang violence.
“The officers underwent rigorous training covering a wide range of critical areas including Firearms proficiency, Public order management, International human rights and humanitarian law, Fundamental principles of peacekeeping and French language training,” NPS said in a statement.

The security agency also stated that they had been given tactical vehicles (including MRAPS), ballistic helmets, bulletproof jackets, adequate ammo, helicopters, night-vision goggles, and drones that fulfilled international standards.
The statement was made in response to stories that showed skepticism and questioned the officers’ skills in providing security operational support.
Despite the prevailing constraints, NPS stated that the officers displayed remarkable talents.
“With a distinguished record in international policing and peace support operations, Kenya’s National Police Service continues to demonstrate exceptional capability and professionalism in executing this mission, a fact widely acknowledged in Haiti and beyond, despite challenges inherent in such security operations,” the statement read.
According to the agency, the partnership between the Kenya-led MSS Mission and the Haitian National Police has increased collaborative operations to reduce crime and violence, resulting in a more secure environment.
The police service also stated that the officers were unwavering in their mission to restore security and stability in Haiti.
A Kenyan police officer who went missing in Haiti has yet to be located.

“We have a missing officer who we are still looking for. When we find him, we will inform you,” he said.
Meanwhile, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen denied accusations that more Kenya Police officers died in the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti than were officially recorded.
