WILD EASTER: KWS Announces Park Discounts For Holiday Festivities
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced a variety of measures to accommodate increasing visitor numbers while guaranteeing safety and conservation across national parks and reserves this Easter vacation.
This year’s preparations coincide with the start of the “Easter Moto Moto in Kenya Parks” campaign, which aims to increase domestic tourism through incentives and operational enhancements.

KWS stated that all parks will retain their regular working hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with additional staff deployed at major access points and high-traffic areas to ensure seamless visitor management.
“Infrastructure maintenance teams have conducted thorough inspections and repairs of road networks and visitor facilities to ensure optimal conditions throughout the holiday period from April 18-27, 2025,” it said.
In a statement, KWS announced additional patrols and greater engagement with national law enforcement agencies to improve security.
“This multi-agency approach aims to deter illegal activities while ensuring rapid response capabilities for any emergencies that may arise,” it added.
“Visitors will notice enhanced presence of park personnel who will be enforcing regulations regarding wildlife proximity, designated routes, and speed limits – measures critical to both visitor safety and wildlife protection.”

KWS stated that registered tour operators bringing groups of ten domestic tourists will receive a complimentary entry pass as part of the “Easter Moto Moto” campaign.
“Accommodation options within the parks have been made more accessible through a 10 per cent discount on stays at Mbugani Home for bookings made between April 18 and 27, with the offer extending through June 30, 2025,” KWS added.

The agency also announced a special appreciation program that will recognize the first domestic visitors to ten selected parks.
These included Meru National Park and Shimba Hills National Reserve, which provided daily presents for the first five days of the campaign.
“In the Nairobi National Park, a complimentary shuttle service will operate from Good Friday through Easter Monday to alleviate traffic congestion and improve accessibility for visitors.”
KWS urged tourists to book in advance through the eCitizen KWS site (kws.ecitizen.go.ke) to prevent processing delays at park gates, especially on high visitation days.
