Nairobi Imam Arrested For Assaulting, Stabbing TWO People In The Mosque
Detectives at Nairobi’s Kayole Police Station are holding a prominent Imam on charges of causing grave harm to at least two people.
Imam Mohamed Ibrahim Hussein is said to have stabbed two persons during a dispute over the management of Taqwa Mosque in Nairobi’s Njiru neighborhood.
Two parties have been vying for control of the mosque.
The accused, Imam Mohamed, leads one faction, while the other is represented by the family of Ahmed Mohamed, whose mother contributed land for the mosque’s construction.

The family accused Mohamed of using unethical measures to seize and control the mosque.
Attempts to stop him were greeted with harsh force, with the Imam brandishing a knife and attacking Ahmed Mohamed and Edin Adan.
This occurred inside the mosque just after prayers.
“Sheikh Ibrahim alisema alikuwa na court order ya kuwatoa wenye walikuwa kwa msikiti, huwa anadhania ni mimi niko na funguo, ghafla alitoa kisu na kunidunga kwa tumbo na mkonom,” said one of the victims, Ahmed Mohamed.
Another, Edin Adan, added: “Hawa watu walikuja kugrab msikiti na sisi tukasema haiwezakani, mimi niliumia kwa kichwa unaiona hapa nimeshonwa.”
The stabbing occurred during a joint security conference between the two factions and the Njiru sub-county security committee, which agreed to have the disagreement settled by SUPKEM and Jamia Mosque.
Njiru Police Commander John Owuoth stated: “After two minutes tukapata message wameanza kupigana kwa mosque, wale waliumia walipelekwa Mama Lucy na yule alidungana alimakatwa.”

Police said it’s unclear why and how the Imam chose to take matters into his own hands following their involvement.
