Lion Attacks, Kills 14-Year-Old Girl In Nairobi National Park

Two persons died over the weekend in separate events reported in Kenya’s national game parks.

According to a statement made on Sunday by Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS), the first incidence occurred on a ranch near the southern fringe of Nairobi National Park, where a lioness tragically attacked a 14-year-old girl.

According to KWS, the girl was attacked in Savannah near Nairobi National Park, and the incident’s specifics have yet to be confirmed.

The lion is believed to be from Nairobi National Park and met the girl after entering a residential area at Savannah Ranch.

A witness who saw the incident on Saturday at 7 p.m. raised the alarm, triggering a quick reaction from KWS rangers and emergency teams.

The crews tracked bloodstains that took them to the Mbagathi River, where they discovered the girl’s body with injuries on her lower back.

According to reports, the 14-year-old attends a nearby elementary school and is in grade 7. The body was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home for postmortem.

Efforts to locate the renegade lion are ongoing, following a recent series of park breaks involving lions, which have been routine sightings in homes near the national park.

According to KWS, the guy died as a result of his injuries after being crushed by an elephant in Mere Forest, Kieni East.

On March 28, dread seized residents of Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County when CCTV footage of a lioness preying in a residential area surfaced online.

In the video released online, the lioness was shown gently approaching the gate of a well-secured compound before climbing on top of the concrete wall that supports the metal gate.
