[DETAILS] What Uhuru Kenyatta Discussed With President Museveni

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta paid Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni a courtesy visit on Thursday.

Uhuru, who is in Uganda for the Guild Leaders’ Summit at Makerere University, briefed Museveni on his speech, in which he exhorted the youths to embrace the moment and take charge.

Museveni expressed his sympathy for Uhuru’s views, challenging African leaders to be selfish and work towards Africa’s development.

“I was pleased to hear that these students are keen on what we have been preaching the four principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy, and how they are crucial for their prosperity,” Museveni wrote after meeting Uhuru.

“I welcome this initiative and will meet with the Guild Leadership Academy to discuss it further.”

Both Uhuru and Museveni emphasized the importance of Africa’s youth on the front lines and championing their rights while also advocating for development.

“Young leaders must recognize that this is an independence moment and that you are officially the freedom worriers of this era,” Uhuru emphasized.

“You are the last line of defense in the battle to rescue the heart and soul of Africa for the sake of future generations.”

Reflecting on the current global scene, Uhuru noticed a shift in which rich nations are becoming more inward-focused, leaving Africa to forge its own course.

He exhorted the youth to see this as a “independence moment,” in which they must act as the final line of defense in the war to save Africa’s heart and soul for future generations.

The leaders emphasized the significance of Africa moving away from reliance on foreign aid and instead creating possibilities for itself.

“The sunset of USAID has forced a level of economic policy introspection unseen in Africa for decades. The situation calls for a serious rethink in the developmental priorities of African Governments,” Uhuru posed.
