DCI Issues Statement After Breakthrough On Fatal Attack On NPR Officers
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has discovered two AK-47 weapons that are thought to have been used in the fatal attack on three National Police Reservists (NPR) earlier this month.
According to a DCI statement issued on Saturday, April 26, the recovery was made during a combined operation in Lemorijo village, Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County.
The cops discovered two AK-47 weapons, both with empty magazines, buried in the vicinity.
“Earlier today, a joint operation led by the DCI Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) team, supported by GSU Kipsing, successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles with empty magazines at Lemorijo village, Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County,” the statement read.
DCI stated that the operation was begun in response to the violent incident on April 7, in which three NPR officers from Igembe North, Meru County, were killed by armed invaders.

During a vicious gun battle with bandits in Meru, three NPR policemen were killed, several were injured, and their rifles were taken.
“The operation was in response to the brutal incident that occurred on 7th April 2025, where three National Police Reservists (NPR) from Igembe North, Meru County, were fatally shot by armed raiders,” DCI said.
“The recovered rifles are believed to have been used during the attack.”
Meru County Commissioner Jacob Ouma verified the event on April 8, stating that officials responded swiftly when the attack was reported.

“We received the report of the raid in the Mea Area and responded in time. There was a fierce fight, and unfortunately, three were fatally shot,” Ouma said.
The investigators also attributed the operation’s success to collaboration among elite DCI teams, members of the public, the local administration, and DCI officers from Igembe North.
The DCI praised all officers participating in the operation for their devotion and commitment to ensuring security, law, and order.
It stated that investigations into the identity of the attackers and the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the three NPR officers are still underway.
