
NAROK: Land Dispute Leaves 7 People Dead After Violent Protests
Five people have died in a brutal clash in Angara Barrikoi, Narok County.
The violence began on Monday as a consequence of a land dispute, and five people have been confirmed dead.
Local villagers claimed historical ownership of the land and blocked the major road to prevent land officials from assessing the area.

The number of people killed tolls to 7, several others nursing injuries at various hospitals.

The protest swiftly turned into violent battles with police officers, resulting in injuries on both sides.
In addition to the fatalities, a land official’s vehicle was destroyed during the unrest.

The truck was attacked by people, exacerbating an already volatile situation.
The vehicle’s damage, interpreted as a sign of the government’s action, exacerbated the community’s frustration and anger.

Local leaders, including elders, have intervened to mediate, encouraging both the community and government to avoid more violence and instead engage in peaceful discourse to settle the land dispute.
