EXPLAINER: How to Verify a Legitimate KNEC Certificate
Did you know that you can get a statement of confirmation of test results from the Kenya National Examination Council?
This is achievable, whether you are an employer looking to confirm the legitimacy of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate or simply an interested individual.
In today’s fast-paced market, where most people are eager to do everything for a job, fraudulent KCSE and even KCPE diplomas are becoming increasingly common.
Ironically, prominent government officials are being arrested for the same offense. For some, it is a thriving business.

As a result, KNEC has given a step-by-step method for confirming examination results using only the student’s index number and exam type.
To begin, create an account on the KNEC’s official website or through eCitizen.
After successfully registering, you can log in using the credentials supplied to your email.
After logging in, you should select the confirmation option from the menu.
At this point, provide all of the necessary information, such as the student’s index number, the type of exam, and the year it was taken.
You will also need to supply the destination address, which corresponds to the institution requesting the confirmation.
Include the addressee’s name and the reason for the confirmation request at this point.
The fifth step is to upload a copy of either the certificate, the result slip, or the result printout that you want to check.

Next, submit the application and wait for the system to create your payment information.
You will then receive an email encouraging you to log in and complete the payment. Your application will be processed once you have completed the payment.
