
Meru CEC Nominee Turns Up In A Chopper For Swearing-In Event
Joy Karwitha Kiugu, the nominee for Meru Lands County Executive Commissioner (CEC), arrived by helicopter at Kinoru Stadium on Wednesday ahead of her swearing-in ceremony.
The county assembly confirmed her nomination on Tuesday morning, following Isaac Kinoti Marete’s resignation due to regional balance disputes.

She was added to the list in response to reported protests from Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri, who questioned the nominee list.
The 32-year-old has experience in sales management.

According to her LinkedIn page, she holds a Master’s Degree in MSc- Management Information Systems from JKUAT and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (BCom) from the University of Nairobi.

She will now join Governor Isaac Mutuma’s 10-member administration when he takes over Meru County.
Monica Kathono (Finance, Economic Planning, and ICT), Dennis Mugambi (Health), Carol Kaberia (Tourism), Esther Rukunga (Education, Science, and Arts), and Maranya Mari (Legal Affairs and Public Service Management) are the five CECs.
Others include Kanyaru Muriki (Water and Irrigation), Elias Murega (Youth, Sports, Gender and Social Development), Janaro Gatangugi (Agriculture), and David Baariu (Roads, Transport, and Energy).
Mutuma was sworn in as the new Governor on March 17, following the dramatic impeachment of his predecessor, Kawira Mwangaza.
