REVEALED: Gun Used In MP Charles Were’s Murder Linked To 3 Other Crimes
Ballistics tests have revealed that one of the two firearms confiscated from the home of one of the suspects in the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were.
According to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the gun used in Were’s murder was linked to a number of other crimes.
During a news briefing on Thursday morning, the IG revealed that the firearm was used in a series of violent robberies in Nairobi and Kiambu counties.
“Today, I stand before you with significant findings from comprehensive ballistic investigations regarding the tragic demise of Charles Were,” IG Kanja stated.
“The ballistic report we have received unequivocally links the Sarsilmaz pistol recovered from the residence of one of the suspects to the fatal shots that took his life.”

“This critical piece of evidence not only identifies the weapon used in this heinous act but also reveals its involvement in a series of other criminal activities,” he added.
“Specifically, the same firearm has been implicated in three separate robbery offences across Nairobi and Kiambu counties, with the most recent crime happening on April 26.”
Kanja emphasized the National Police Service’s (NPS) commitment to solving the issue, urging Kenyans to contribute information about the investigations so that the case can be resolved quickly.
On May 7, the DCI issued a statement announcing the arrest of two more suspects in the murder of the dead MP.
They found two pistols—a Retay Falcon and a Sarsilmaz—along with nine rounds of 9mm ammo.
A purse and boots matching those worn by one of the suspects at the scene were also found in the haul.
All materials were turned over for forensic processing, which has now linked one of the firearms to the crime.
The arrests increased the overall number of suspects apprehended in connection with the murder on Wednesday evening, April 30.
MP Were was shot five times while leaving Parliament on Wednesday evening, when his automobile came to a stop in traffic on Ngong Road.
