3 Suspected Abductors Arrested, Detained In Murang’a

Murang’a police have detained three people suspected of being involved in a series of abductions, robberies, and violent occurrences around the county.

The suspects, two ladies, and a man, were caught on Friday afternoon after police officers stopped a saloon car they were driving in Kangema.

They are suspected of abducting two ladies at different events and demanding a ransom from their relatives.

Murang’a County Police Commander Benjamin Kimwele said the arrest came after a young woman was taken while waiting to board a matatu in the Kabuta district near Murang’a town.

The perpetrators then drove away with the victim towards Kangema town but were apprehended by police before they could collect any money from the victim’s relatives.

Kimwele stated that evidence found at the scene included a mobile phone used to contact the victim’s relatives and money thought to have been extorted from another victim.

The victim, Irene Muthoni, stated that the suspects approached her in a black saloon car and promised to drop her off in Murang’a town.

“When I got into the car, they told me they were criminals and asked me to get them Sh50, 000, failing which they would kill me and dump my body in a dam,” the victim narrated.

However, Muthoni’s parents continued to pretend they were going to an M-pesa shop, but they failed to remit the money.

The abductors grew concerned that the parents were conversing with the police and dropped her off in the Kanorero district of Kangema.

Police officers tracing Muthoni’s phone number picked her up and continued their search for the culprits who were discovered buying groceries in Kangema town.
