Gov’t To Close Down Kameme, 23 Stations For Violating New Regulations
The Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) has declared that 23 television stations, including famous channels like Kameme TV, will be closed immediately for breaking betting promotional restrictions.
In a statement issued by BCLB Director P.K. Mbugi on May 5, the board stated that the listed TV stations continued to run betting content with payment prompts, despite a previous decision prohibiting such promotions.

According to the statement, the media defied the board’s 30-day suspension of betting commercials, instead promoting gambling with payment details openly displayed on its screens.
“Following the Board’s recent press statement announcing a 30-day suspension of betting advertisements, it has come to our attention that several media outlets continue to run unauthorized betting promotions,” the statement read.

The BCLB has requested the Communications Authority (CA) to take urgent action against non-compliant media houses in accordance with your mandate.
The board also stated that infractions include showing payment data on the screen and encouraging viewers to join in promotions for a chance to win, which are against the suspension rules.
The affected television stations are Kameme TV, Tohanchane TV, Favour Life TV, Wave Time, Yahweh TV, Goodwill TV, Massa TV, JCDH TV, Swahili TV, and Humble Touch.
Other stations named are Deliverance TV, Moja One, Ngumbao TV, Naivera TV, Nyumba Itu, Aviation TV, Repower, Happy TV, Jawabu TV, Madhabahu TV, Michezo TV, and Venus TV.

Furthermore, the BCLB indicated that it forwarded the document to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), asking for legal action against the promoters involved in these unlawful broadcasts.
